Collaboration with Pensioners Forum & Deals, a private Facebook group
The Admins of Pensioners Forum & Deals, a private, large Facebook group specifically for SA seniors, and the Director and senior management of You’ve Earned It/YEI, a digital media platform for SA 60-plussers, featuring on-point articles geared at seniors, plus pensioner discounts, met last week to discuss areas of mutual interest.
The meeting lasted 2 ½ hours with the aim of identifying areas where can collaborate with each other. The aim of the collaboration is to present a louder and united seniors’ voice where we can address issues that affect 60-plussers, particularly pensioners.
Some exciting initiatives/projects were identified – YEI & PF&D members will be informed once they come to fruition. There will be a lot of work going on behind the scenes.
Both parties bring different strengths to the table.
YEI was responsible for bringing about the change to the payment dates of the SASSA grants to the 2nd day of the month. No small achievement. In this collaboration, we do hope to make a difference in other areas of pensioners lives.
We left the meeting feeling positive and confident that this was a step in the right direction and further meetings are planned. Our goals are in sync, in that we operate with the best interests of seniors at the heart of the collaboration.
