Today, we’re not just celebrating another newsletter—we’re celebrating a milestone! That’s right, it’s YEI’s 250th newsletter edition, and we couldn’t have made it here without your incredible support and engagement.
As we mark this special occasion, we want to take a moment to reflect on our journey. From our humble beginnings to now, we’ve shared thousands of articles related to retirement, ageing, health, travel, lifestyle, finance, pensioner discounts, savings and benefits, amazing competitions, and so much more… YEI is doing radio shows, we’ve participated in marches to Parliament, we’ve exhibited in Expo’s, we’ve interviewed fabulous people, even some celebrities, we’ve run Pensioner of the Month competitions, we’ve knocked on corporates doors asking for relief for pensioners, we even took a 17 page petition with hundreds of pensioner names to the CEO of MultiChoice requesting a pensioner discount.
What’s the Secret to 250 Editions?
It’s simple: you – our readers! Your enthusiasm, engagement and support over the years has been the secret ingredient! And we couldn’t have done it without our wonderful clients, partners and advertisers who have provided retirement wisdom, amazing offers for pensioners and given away countless prizes – just to make a senior feel special! And to put it all together is the incredible YEI team who work like crazy to bring you all of this information – they have worked tirelessly, a crazy amount of overtime, but with love and dedication for a senior audience that they all respect, love and admire.
Let’s Get Nostalgic: Five Memorable Moments (we could add dozens to this list)
- The numerous “thank-you’s” that we receive from our readers:
You make the long hours worth it! You make us smile and chuckle! We understand your pain points. We understand your joy. We get what life is like as a 60-plusser. - YEI joined the pensioners in a march to Parliament
This march was to highlight the plight of pensioners on small SASSA Old Age Grants. It was dignified, it bound us together, and certainly brought about awareness to the difficult road travelled by pensioners on SASSA pensions. - The moment when SASSA changed their paydate:
YEI wrote relentless mails and had conversations with SASSA officials about the paydate. Miraculously, the paydate was brought forward – maybe not enough, but a small change. - The day the YEI website decided to crash (a very stressful, but memorable moment)
Let’s just say, the team really nailed the “Face with Tears of Joy” look when the website was restored! - The Day We Launched the “SupportPensioners” page:
Who knew there are so many talented, creative, skilled pensioners out there doing great stuff!

Well, if you thought we were going to slow down, think again! YEI is currently going through a transition. Stay with us, and stay tuned for new segments, special features, surprises, guest contributions, and much more.
