Nestled in the heart of the magnificent Nambiti Private Game Reserve, The Springbok Lodge offers more than just a luxurious Big Five safari experience—it offers a chance to be part of a meaningful story. One where the heartbeat of the local community drives everything we do.
While many lodges focus on opulence, at The Springbok Lodge, true luxury is measured not just in the quality of our hospitality, but in the positive impact we make on the lives of those around us. We are proudly community-owned, and that ethos is woven into the fabric of our operations—from the people who welcome as you arrive to the passionate team who serve you in the dining area or guide you through the bushveld.

Sanele Mavimbela
Community at the Core
The success of The Springbok Lodge is directly tied to the success of our people. We believe in empowering our team not just with jobs, but with opportunities for long-term growth. That’s why a portion of our income is invested into a dedicated training fund, which has allowed multiple team members to pursue formal qualifications at leading institutions like the International Hotel School.
One remarkable example is Sanele Mavimbela, who began his journey as a gate guard on the Nambiti Reserve. With drive, heart, and the right support, Sanele transitioned into a waiter role at the lodge in 2017. Fast forward to today, and he has proudly completed his studies through the International Hotel School. His passion, professionalism, and commitment have earned him the role of Duty Manager—a role in which he continues to inspire both guests and colleagues alike.
Sanele’s story is not unique; it is emblematic of our broader mission. At The Springbok Lodge, we don’t just create employment—we build careers, develop leaders, and strengthen families through sustainable livelihoods.
Extending Support Beyond the Lodge
Our community involvement doesn’t stop with our staff. We’re passionate about creating wider impact. We’ve had the privilege of providing meals to local sports clinics hosted at community schools. These moments, small as they may seem, make a big difference in the lives of young learners.
Looking ahead, we are doubling down on our efforts to uplift the surrounding community. Our upcoming initiatives include assistance with supplying reading books to schools as well as seeing how we can support learners who need glasses. We believe that every guest who visits The Springbok Lodge becomes a part of this powerful journey—a journey of upliftment and shared success.
The Springbok Safari Experience
While our heart lies in community, our soul is in the wild pristine game reserve which surrounds us. The Springbok Lodge is set in the breathtaking Nambiti Private Game Reserve, a malaria-free sanctuary brimming with wildlife. The only Big Five reserve in the Ladysmith area, Nambiti offers an exceptional safari experience, combining thrilling game drives, sumptuous cuisine, and luxurious tented accommodation with sweeping views of the surrounding savannah.
Each tented suite is tastefully appointed, offering the perfect blend of style and comfort, and every game drive—led by expert guides—presents a chance to witness Africa’s most iconic animals in their natural habitat. Each moment at Springbok Lodge is unforgettable.
