Feedback from YEI member after booking a Mango Airlines flight
prior to lockdown

We have a timeshare at Scottburgh , and because we , and our car , are getting old , we decided to fly down and back and booked for 09/05/20 .Booking TJDQCN .
Then the virus intervened !!
Within 24 hours of the President advising on 23/04/20 that there would be no travel between provinces , we get an email from you given us a voucher valid for two years to cover the flights suspended by the virus We were stressing a bit wondering quite how we would go about not losing our costs .
Thank you for being so on the ball , and customer orientated .
Once again many thanks for your prompt actions

    To whom it May concern

I am writing on behalf of my mother who is a pensioner. She is a secretary at a highschool so you can imagine that her salary is not very high. She just made a booking on SOUTH AFRICA.TO TRAVEL ONLINE. She realized that she had made the booking for 9 June from JHB OR Tambo to DBN International airport; flight number FlySafair | FA260 R529. Her return ticket she made was for 16 June Mango | JE242 R499. I immediately made a call first to SOUTH AFRICA.TO TRAVEL ONLINE who advised me they cannot assist with the Mango flight. I then called Mango and a VERY patronising Rude agent named Edgar “assisted” me. I tried to explain that my mom is a pensioner and just made a mistake but I was calling immediately. His response was there was a penalty fee of R270 and a difference of R370. The more I explained that she is a pensioner and had just paid R499 for that return ticket the more patronising he became. IS THIS HOW MANGO TREATS PENSIONERS??? She has budgeted to go see my sister and now this! I went back on to see the flights available for 7th July and returning on 21st of July it showed a total difference from R1028 to R1102 which she would be able to afford. Will Mango step up or What?????

Hi. we are going on a cruise in February next year from Durban to Portuguese islands however we have to fly from cape town to Durban. I sent an e-mail to mango for a group booking. From the group we are 12 over 60. I ask if there’s no discount for pensioners but they said no. we must leave 12th Feb 06h00 Monday & return Friday 16thFebruary also they say they don’t have an afternoon return flight 19h25 is too late for our senior cause we already dock 07h00 the Friday morning. It seems its just for group bookings that there’s no afternoon flights cause i found out there is if you book individual.

I simply love mango airlines. We moved from Port Elizabeth which has been my hometown for 63 years to Ballito.
We left family and friends of many years + plus our beloved daughter her husband and 2 Children.
We moved from P E because of many break ins in Summerstrand where we lived to love with our other daughter in a safe complex.
Well when we Boarded Mango airlines my eyes were blood shot as I cried and cried as I have left a life time behind.
Mango’s air hostess picked up my sorrow. She came and spoke to my husband and I and gave us a bottle of wine plus Lindt chocolates.
She came past regularly to check on us.
We support Mango also as they care for their senior citizens and it’s wonderful to be able to afford the tickets at discount rates to their citizen.
    So 3 cheers to Mango
