Start the year with a fresh sense of adventure at Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront.
For people over 60, the Waterfront can be an easy, affordable outing when you know:
- where savings are genuinely available
- which experiences suit a shorter visit versus a full day
- and what requires a V&A Seniors Programme Card or ID
This article is designed to assist you with what is available in terms of your time and budget.
Eating out at the Waterfront: where value matters, not just price
Eating out is often the biggest cost of a day at the Waterfront. The places below are popular with over-60s because they combine great food, comfortable settings, and meaningful savings. Do remember to take your ID and your V&A Seniors Card.
Ferryman’s Irish Tavern
If you are looking for a relaxed, familiar atmosphere with generous portions, this is a dependable choice. It suits longer, unhurried meals and works well if you are dining with grandchildren, thanks to the safe play area. Ferryman’s is the original V&A Waterfront’s Irish Tavern. Enjoy traditional Irish pub fare, sports viewing and live bands.
Benefit to note:
20% off your bill every day (excluding peak season and public holidays).
Quay Four

Benefit to note:
20% off your bill every day (excluding peak season and public holidays).
Mozambik
A good option if you enjoy bold flavours and a lively atmosphere. Tuesdays are particularly worth planning around if you want to keep costs down.

Santa Ana Spur
A familiar favourite for those who value consistency and value. Since 1967, the Spur has created special memories and continues to serve great-tasting meals! Remember the original Golden Spur in Newlands! Great memories! The Seniors Menu is often chosen for its simplicity and predictable cost.
Benefit to note:
Seniors Menu available daily, with a three-course option or a lower-priced alternative without dessert.
Culture and experience: choosing what suits your pace
In addition to a great meal, the Waterfront offers several experiences that are especially appealing if you enjoy culture and/or activity.
Zeitz Mocaa
If you enjoy art and exhibitions, Wednesdays are the most cost-effective time to visit. The museum suits a focused visit rather than a rushed walk-through.
