In this episode we speak to Dave Barber from the Walking with Winners Recovery Centre about the different types of scams, the most prevalent scams, and how they operate. Weiner also interviews Mr X, a reformed, self-proclaimed scammer who specialised in identify theft to find out more about how he went about scamming his victims.
Episode 2: The Psychology of scams and real-life stories
Mandy Wiener speaks to clinical psychologist Dr Khosi Jiyane about the psychology of a scammer and specific predispositions like narcissism, psychopathy and Machiavellianism that characterises the behaviour of a scammer. Weiner also speaks to Mr X about how he fell into the world of scamming and how he identified his victims.
Episode 3: Protect yourself from insurance scams
In the final installment of this series, we hear from Funeka Ngewu, Executive Head of Claims and Claims Support from Momentum Insure about the kinds of claims she has come across within the insurance industry that are related to scams, and the measures in place to deal with this type of criminal activity.
