Neuropathy refers to damage or dysfunction of one or more nerves outside of the brain and spinal cord. While neuropathy can occur at any age, its prevalence increases significantly among older adults.

As we age, our bodies undergo various changes, including those affecting our nervous system and nerve damage becomes more prevalent presenting unique challenges for older adults.

Age-related changes in nerve structure and function, combined with factors such as chronic diseases and medications, contribute to the higher incidence of neuropathy in older populations.

Age-Related Nerve Changes

  1. Degeneration of Nerve Fibers: With age, nerve fibers may degenerate, leading to a decline in nerve function and sensation.
  2. Decreased Nerve Regeneration: Older adults may experience reduced capacity for nerve regeneration and repair, making them more susceptible to nerve damage.
  3. Impaired Blood Flow: Poor circulation and decreased blood flow to the nerves can contribute to nerve damage and neuropathic symptoms.
  4. Chronic Conditions: Age-related chronic conditions such as diabetes, vascular disease, and autoimmune disorders can further exacerbate nerve damage and neuropathy symptoms.

Common Symptoms of Neuropathy in Aging

  1. Tingling and Numbness: Many older adults experience sensations of tingling, numbness, or loss of feeling, particularly in the hands and feet.
  2. Burning or Shooting Pain: Neuropathy often manifests as sharp, burning pain, which may worsen at night or with movement.
  3. Muscle Weakness: Weakness and loss of muscle control may occur, affecting mobility and balance.
  4. Loss of Reflexes: Age-related neuropathy can lead to diminished reflexes and coordination, increasing the risk of falls and injuries.
  5. Autonomic Dysfunction: Neuropathy may affect autonomic nerves, leading to issues such as digestive problems, dizziness, and difficulty regulating body temperature.

DNA Biopharm SA have developed two products that can help alleviate these conditions. They are:

 Neuro-Fast Capsules.

  • Are neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory and anti-nociceptive (anti-pain) properties.
  • Not only treats peripheral neuropathy but another diabetes-related condition called autonomic neuropathy, which affects the nerves to internal organs.
  • Benefits peripheral nerves and improves nerve conduction velocity pulses.
  • Lessens neuropathic symptoms once they have developed.
  • Contains a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory and can reverse some of the nerve damage.
  • Contains Curcumin Longa is a potent pain reliever as it keeps nerve pain from striking.

Veno-Fast Capsules

  • Contains Nattokinase which is an enzyme that breaks down the inflammation, clots, and cytokines from viral infections
  • Improves blood vessel health, has a positive effect on varicose veins, superficial venous insufficiency and venous ulcers.
  • It improves circulation, strengthens capillaries, reduces inflammation, and improves venous edema.
  • Horse chestnut extract is an anti-inflammatory herb that promotes normal tone of the vein wall, thereby improving circulation and reducing lower leg swelling.
  • Promotes healthy connective tissue, a key structural component of veins.
  • Relieves leg pain caused by poor circulation.
  • Strengthens blood vessels and capillary walls and makes them more elastic.
  • Acts as a vasodilator, increasing blood supply to the heart and improving circulation to the extremities by decreasing arterial resistance.
