57 Humpties and Counting – Knitting Comfort and Hope
Jane’s heart is as big as her knitting basket! With endless patience and compassion, she lovingly knits “Humpties” and other handmade treasures for those in need – each one carrying comfort, hope, and love.
Jane has just completed 57 Humpties – yes, fifty-seven! Each cheerful Humpty Dumpty brings warmth to little ones at CHOC House (for children undergoing cancer treatment), the Teddy Bear Picnic (for children going to court), Groote Schuur Hospital’s premature baby unit, orphanages, and underprivileged homes.
Every Humpty is more than wool and stuffing – it’s a soft, colourful reminder that someone cares deeply.
Partnering with Bergvliet Lions to Spread Warmth
Through her membership of the Bergvliet Lions Club, Jane’s knitted creations find their way into the arms of children across the Cape who need a little extra love and comfort.
The Bergvliet Lions have recognised Jane’s compassion and dedication by awarding her the Louis Volks Humanitarian Award – a special honour given for distinguished community service that truly reflects the ideals of Lions Club International.
