Important advice regarding medical aid:
My wife and I decided to move from the PLUS plan to Comprehensive as all our ailments are registered as PMB’s. This gave us a savings of R4000 month which, being a typical banker, we put to a savings account every month. Very proud of our move, everything was successful until I received my tax assessment. Reduce your Medical Payment, then you get a lower “rebate” for your tax when you work on their formula. I had the funds in savings but what a “whammy” . My tax increased by R14000. The small warning here is check every angle before you make decisions to change plans to make a savings.
Wills and Estates
Just to say a huge thank you to YEI and Paula Bongers from Proactive Wills & Estates who attended to my husband and I in order to draw up our will. Paula was friendly and very efficient. Thank you.

How I cut costs on electricity
I have a fixed monthly prepaid budget which exceeds my usage. In that way I collect units over time and as increases take effect my average cost of electricity is smoothed out over the period. LED downlights, energy saver globes, timer on the geyser and energy efficient washing machine and dishwasher all go towards a lower usage monthly. Next purchase is a smaller energy saving fridge that will be sufficient for us. I have a record of my usage for 8 years and it is amazing how these items have had an enormous impact on our day to cost. NOT TO FORGET going away for a midweek break once a month which of course is not factored into these figures. Thanks for the advice and concern.

YEI – time for a little fun
Let’s have some fun!
There are 27 figures of speech hidden in this picture, for example, “cat got your tongue” or” Time flies”
Can you find the others?
Cartoon by Ella Baron
The YEI team found the 27, but when shared on the YEI Facebook page, the YEI Facebook fans were very sharp and found many more!! Share your findings in the comments below.
Until next month…
