Editors desk

Greetings YEI readers

YEI’s top comment this issue

I am 70 years old and happily employed on a full-time basis in a retirement village.  I love YEI as it is so informative.  I always find useful articles in each newsletter.  Loneliness is an all prevailing problem in our retirement village.  The chat bench, mentioned in the last YEI newsletter, will be my next project!!

Thank you, Janis

    Good day

Please give your members a warning regarding motor vehicle insurance on older cars. I am insured with Santam and on their website they say that cars older than 10 years with a low value do not need comprehensive insurance as the cost of repairs exceed its value.Only Third Party insurance is recommendced. Regardless of this Santam have for the last 4 years taken my money for comprehensive insurance on my now 14 year old vehicle even though I queried this with them. I was simply told that motor spares costs have gone up so insurance premiums must go up. I am now getting Third Party nsurance quotes. People must be aware of this and not be fooled into thinking their cars will be repaired when it won’t.
