Our average life expectancy is growing ever longer.
‘Retirement’ is consequentially becoming an uncharted journey
It can be daunting or disappointing. Yet this is harvest time! An opportunity to find new meaning, enjoy the fruits of your learning and experience, and leave a legacy.
Having a coach to share your unfolding adventure can make all the difference. I provide a safe environment for you to think and feel for yourself, and to find your own answers. For me, a session is successful when your ideas are better than any of my own would have been.
I retired early as a Professor of Paediatrics at UCT and Chief Specialist at Red Cross Children’s Hospital, to start a coaching practice. I’d been to some very sad retirement farewells where eminent people seemed to be walking into nothingness, and, following a transformative experience of being coached myself, coaching became part of my own retirement plan. As time passed I found fewer and fewer reasons to wait until retirement age, and I took the plunge.
I have a Graduate Diploma in Counselling (Coaching) from the South African College of Applied Psychology (SACAP) and am registered as a coach with the national professional organisation for coaches and mentors (COMENSA).
