Greetings

This last month has been a roller-coaster ride for YEI. We took a leap of faith, and showcased YEI at the first-ever Retirement Expo at the Coca-Cola Dome in Johannesburg. We also showcased YEI at the University of Cape Town’s Pensioners Day. Spin-offs from the Expo were a radio interview with RSG radio and the opportunity for a YEI snippet to be featured in an article for the over-60s in Huisgenoot and You magazines (the issue of 1 December 2011).

It has been a great delight to meet many of our subscribers, and hopefully future subscribers, at the Expo. We also took great pleasure in delivering the first prize of our competition to a chuffed winner who advised YEI that “we had made this pensioner and her husband very happy!” Our subscribers are very important to us, and as mentioned to many visitors at the Expo, we welcome all feedback – preferably good, but we’ll take adverse comments on the chin. We love it when
our subscribers comment on the articles and the advertisements, and participate in discussion in Readers Posts.

Our subscriber numbers have grown considerably since the Expo, and we anticipate another hike in numbers, as a result of the YEI media release.

We welcome our new advertisers on board – have you seen Nedbank’s suggestions on how to make your retirement planning a booming success? Read about the new loyalty card that Primi Piatti have recently released. What do Amanzimtoti Beach Rest and The Lofts have in common? Could it be the perfect getaway for that long-needed summer holiday? And while you’re on holiday in the Oudtshoorn region, consider a trip to the Cango Wildlife Ranch.

And don’t forget to take a look at our other fascinating advertising partners who have wonderful offers for you. Consider a Christmas gift subscription to CAR and/or Getaway magazines for your significant other.

Please remember that although we are the new kid on the block, the YEI team is rigorously seeking discounts and benefits for you. If you know of any businesses in your area who offer discounts or benefits to our age group, do tell us, so we can approach them on your behalf.

Don’t forget to tell your friends and family about us, so that they can register for FREE on YEI by visiting www.youve-earned-it.co.za. And please “like us” on our Facebook page, just click on www.facebook.com/youveearnedit. And while you’re on the YEI Facebook page, please do leave a comment.

Till next month…

Kind regards,
Marilyn and the YEI Team

As a baby boomer, you’re part of the largest, healthiest and wealthiest generation … but just how sound has your retirement planning been? Read about the common mistakes we make and why it’s never too late to save.

Perhaps one of the comments that I hear most frequently in my rooms is, ‘I’ll tell you what, Doc., getting old is not for the feint hearted!’ What does this really mean? Because the negative effects of ageing are so common, we have come to accept
that it is inevitable, that, as we get older, we will automatically suffer with ill health.

A popular seaside resort with 4 km of white sandy beaches, friendly village life, a place to simply relax and unwind, a birdwatchers paradise as well as being THE Whale Nursery of Southern Africa – who wouldn’t want to retire to such a place.

In our last e-Newsletter, we ran a fabulous competition which offered some great prizes from some of our advertisers. All you had to do was to have registered on the YEI website by 11th November 2011.

Here’s some news hot off the press from Primi.  They have brought out a Primi Loyalty Card – you can benefit by earning points when you visit Primi.  These points can then be redeemed against future visits to Primi Piatti.
